I started training to be a bookkeeper in late 2001 whilst living in Cornwall.  Working full time with a young family can be difficult to manage and I soon realised that I needed to do something that would give me flexibility.

​In April 2002 we moved to Wiltshire and by the following year I had started Macdees Bookkeeping my first Sole Trader practice.  I worked from a little shed converted into an office in the back garden, mostly to keep me away from my noisy teenagers!

Over the years my business has grown steadily with a varied client base, a number of my original clients from the Sole Trader practice are still with Macdees Accountancy Limited to this day. In 2009 I decided to incorporate as a Limited Company with my long term objective to become a family run business changing the name to Macdees Accountancy & Bookkeeping Limited.

In 2016 I was accepted as a Fellow accountant with AAT.  My eldest daughter has worked with me full time since 2013 and continuing her studies to becoming a fully qualified accountant herself.

I am extremely proud to have my daughter working along side me and see her share the passion that I have for the company and our clients.

​I have worked for Mum on an off since I was sixteen, trying out different things before deciding what I really wanted from life. I suspect it was always inevitable for me to come back to the practice working full time but at such a young age I wanted to try as many things as I could.

I started back with Macdees for the final time in December 2013 beginning my AAT studies very soon after, and working towards becoming a fully qualified accountant.

So many people say to me they would not work with their parents, personally I could not think of anyone else I would rather work with. After years of not knowing what direction to take with my career it was quietly in the background waiting for me to come back.
